ESL has revealed the seeding for ESL Pro League Season 24, placing Spirit at the top of a field that will meet in Katowice. Vitality received the second seed, followed by Falcons and MOUZ, while ShindeN enter at the other end of the order. The ranking is important because it establishes the opening pairings for the Swiss stage.

This list was not copied directly from Valve’s Regional Standings. Each of the participating teams ranked its opponents, after which ESL averaged those ballots and removed outliers. The result is a peer assessment of current strength, with several notable differences from the relevant VRS order.

Vitality made one of the largest upward moves. Their second seed is two places above their comparative VRS position, while Aurora climbed three places to seventh. M80 also gained two positions and will begin as the thirteenth seed. Recent impressions clearly mattered to the teams casting the ballots, particularly after Vitality and Aurora impressed at StarSeries Fall.

The movement went in both directions. MOUZ dropped two places to fourth and 9z fell two places to tenth. G2, TYLOO and 1win each moved down one position. Those adjustments do not rewrite the wider ranking system, but they alter the immediate road through this event by changing who each team meets first and how the early Swiss rounds can develop.

Peer voting creates a different competitive picture

Spirit lead the order ahead of Vitality, Falcons and MOUZ. Legacy and FURIA occupy the next two positions, followed by Aurora and G2. Natus Vincere begin ninth, placing them just outside the upper half, with 9z, BETBOOM and PARIVISION directly behind them.

The bottom four are M80, TYLOO, 1win and ShindeN. ESL is using a conventional top-versus-bottom opening draw rather than the pairing used at the Major. That sends Spirit into a first match against ShindeN and gives Vitality an opener against 1win. A high seed therefore delivers an apparent advantage, although every series in the group stage is a best-of-three and still has to be won on the server.

The complete order can be grouped into four bands:

Players evaluate blank opponent tokens around a tactical table
  • Spirit, Vitality, Falcons and MOUZ form the leading four.
  • Legacy, FURIA, Aurora and G2 complete the upper half.
  • Natus Vincere, 9z, BETBOOM and PARIVISION occupy the middle-lower band.
  • M80, TYLOO, 1win and ShindeN enter as the final four seeds.

A ballot-based system captures information that a points table cannot fully express. Teams preparing against one another see recent tendencies, role changes and map-pool development in detail. At the same time, a peer vote is still a snapshot of perception. It does not guarantee that a team moving upward will outperform its VRS position once the event begins.

The Swiss format will test those judgments quickly. Stronger seeds should receive more favorable opening assignments, but later opponents depend on results. One upset can redirect both teams into a different path, so the initial list matters most at the start rather than functioning as a forecast of the final standings.

Katowice will test the value of the new order

ESL Pro League Season 24 runs from October 3 through October 11 in Katowice. Sixteen teams will compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool. The group phase uses Swiss-system best-of-three series, giving teams room to recover while still punishing repeated losses.

The playoffs switch to single elimination. Most playoff matches are best-of-three, the grand final expands to best-of-five and a best-of-three third-place match is also scheduled. That structure rewards broad map pools, especially with Cache, Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient and Anubis all available.

For Vitality and Aurora, the announcement validates how their recent level is viewed by direct rivals. For MOUZ and 9z, the lower seed creates an earlier challenge without changing what they can achieve. The event will now show whether the collective judgment of the teams was more predictive than the standings it replaced for this draw.

Seed range Teams Opening implication
First through fourth Spirit, Vitality, Falcons, MOUZ Most favorable opening side of the draw
Fifth through eighth Legacy, FURIA, Aurora, G2 Upper-half starting position
Ninth through twelfth Natus Vincere, 9z, BETBOOM, PARIVISION Lower-half opening assignment
Thirteenth through sixteenth M80, TYLOO, 1win, ShindeN Opposition from the leading seeds

The seeding gives ESL Pro League Season 24 a clear opening hierarchy while exposing where professional teams disagree with the VRS. Spirit remain the benchmark, but the largest stories are the confidence placed in Vitality and Aurora and the more difficult starting positions assigned to MOUZ and 9z.

Those differences will matter immediately when the Swiss stage begins. After the first results arrive, the bracket will become less about reputation and more about adaptation across a demanding best-of-three map pool.
